An Invitation to attend Hearts & Hooves' Level I Workshop on Equine Guided Therapy Programs in Hospitals, Seniors Homes, and Special Needs Schools working with Miniature Horses

INFORMATION

Hearts & Hooves horses are trained by Michelle Kropp the only Canadian certified Equine Guided Therapy Handler and Trainer - she works with horses to explore what they want to do. Not all Hearts & Hooves horses are therapy horses as we strongly advocate that we do not ask our horses to do or be in situations they do not like.

Hearts & Hooves always considers the rights of the individual horse. Each horse is trained and certified and must complete above a level 4 before they can do visits. We care about safety and that is why we carry Liability Insurance and work with trained volunteers to provide visits that are not only therapy based, but enjoyable, safe, and relaxed.

NEWS

As a Charity Hearts & Hooves struggles to meet many of the costs and demands of a growing Organization, but we are very pleased to announce that we have just received a $10,000 grant from The Junior League of Edmonton to build a Recreational Building to host our Day Program and base our Youth Volunteer Program from.. THANK YOU!!!!!!!

HEARTS & HOOVES CANADA is a charity that rescues, heals, teaches, and loves miniature horses. We bring the little horses indoors to people who need therapeutic healing. Hearts and Hooves Edmonton is located just minutes outside of the city at Blackwater Ridge Farm.

Hearts & Hooves’ mission is to provide a unique service to people of all ages in Edmonton and surrounding areas who can benefit from an Miniature Equine Guided Therapy visit. We bring the horses indoors to visit people at hospitals, schools, care centers, or in their homes who may be elderly, terminally ill, and medically fragile. We also visit individuals and school programs for those who may be emotionally and mentally ill, mildly, moderately, and severely challenged, and those who are learning and physically challenged.

Hearts & Hooves Canada aims to help miniature horses through means of rescue, ongoing care, adoption, and advocacy. Hearts & Hooves Canada is a leader in Equine Guided Therapy in Canada and offers training to horse owners, and individuals in the field of helping others.

We facilitate Day Programs at the farm for people of all ages who can benefit from learning through the love of a horse. The Day Programs are oriented towards teaching Life Skills and fostering Community Involvement by involving the participants in facilitating visitations, and providing the opportunity to assist with the care of the miniature horses. We intend to benefit those enrolled in our Day Programs, their staff, and families.

We visit special classes in Edmonton and surrounding area schools, for youth who may be learning and physically disabled, medically fragile, mildly, moderately, or severely handicapped, emotionally or mentally ill. We aim to benefit the children, their support staff, teachers, caregivers, and families.

Hearts & Hooves is comprised entirely of volunteers, the majority being youth between 13 and 21 years old. Our Youth Volunteer program is both proactive in helping youth as well providing direction and guidance for the youth at risk amongst them. Our Volunteers help with the care and rescue of the horses, fundraising initiatives, and helps facilitate our visits and Day Programs.

Hearts & Hooves REACH OUT Program also see children and adults with limited range of movement and encourage physical contact with the horses to assist in providing additional activities for physical therapy programs.

Hearts & Hooves’ inspires and engages those we meet to find release in the sparkle of their own smile, the magic of sharing a memory, heart felt laughter, and a special moment in time…

Hearts and Hooves Canada is 100% donation based, *Registered Charity and is seeking business corporate sponsors to assist in bringing the minis to visits that otherwise could not be financially supported.
